Ongoing Projects

Scholarships to local students

The ISSO taking in to account only the Humanity and leaving aside cast, creed and religion commenced awarding scholarships with view of helping the underprivileged children who are unable to pursue their education due to poverty. This project is sure to improve their future in a way that they could reach greater heights in the future. With these scholarships our Organization hopes that they will enter new era in the future.

Through this project ISSO was able to distribute equipment and other necessary school needs for 15,000 children of underprivileged families. This will help at each family to produce a child with a good education and well-disciplined citizen to the society. This is the main target of this project.

Scholarships to study abroad

ISSO as a Charity Organization never implemented projects with the intention making financial gains, but has been engaged only in serving the needy with the aim of uplifting the poverty stricken families’ standards and also to bring them to the society as dignified persons. For this purpose our Organization is to implement a new project. The latest project is to offer scholarships to children study abroad at a minimum cost. While implementing this project the ISSO is willing bear 30% of the cost that is needed for a student for his studies abroad.

Housing Project

Sri Lanka has a population of little over 2million people, out of this figure majority of them are without permanent abodes living under many hardships. They are unable to build a house of their own incomes as it is not sufficient for this purpose. As they are not financially sound enough never think of a house on their own. With being the main theme of this project ISSO has decided to grant Rs. 1,000,000 loans to low income families to construct houses for them. These loans will be granted to on interest free basis and we also undertake help them complete building these houses as early possible.
Through this project ISSO was able to distribute equipment and other necessary school needs for 15,000 children of underprivileged families. This will help at each family to produce a child with a good education and well-disciplined citizen to the society. This is the main target of this project.

Provision of necessary equipment for disabled persons

Donation of equipment needed for disable persons to live in a peaceful manner without depending on others for their daily requirements. This will also be a helping hand for them to earn whatever possible for their upkeep without being a burden to others.  We at ISSO consider this as a income earner for these disable persons.

Project to help stranded in Sri Lankan workers to return

At least one member Father/Mother/ or a child from low income group of families migrate to other countries with hope of uplifting their living standards of the family. While working in Eastern and Middle Eastern countries many of them come across many difficult times and get stranded due loss of job or any other reasons that they fail to overcome. At times of this nature happens to our Sri Lankans the ISSO take this as one of their commitments and try to bring them back to the country. We have been able to bring back many persons who were displaced and stranded in foreign soil. This project is still continues to help the needy.

The ISSO also planned a new system to educate the aspiring workers before their departure to foreign countries. According to this method worker who planning to leave the country can get themselves registered and gain a membership of our Organization. Once a person gets his membership ISSO is bound to serve these persons. When a person/persons informs about their difficulties the ISSO will act fast to save them and bring them back to Sri Lanka.

Contribution of Foster Parent

This project is a valuable and similar to our housing project. Its objective is to provide scholarship to continue studies from Grade 6 to Grade 13 for children of underprivileged families. Priority will be given to children who lose both parents or lose one.

Scholarship for University Students

Our main purpose is to see that all in a good society that reveals the educated and humanity are living at equal level ejecting of barriers in races, religions, casts and ethnics. If we are able to refer the university students to do something better, valuable and timely, to the country as well as the society using his education he received, it is a great mission done to the society by us. As a support our organization hopes to give a sum of Rs.240,000/- (Rs.5000/- Per month) for 4 years as a scholarship to the university students during their university education and the year of their education is to us immaterial, and they can apply year after year for the scholarship. Any University student may apply for this scholarship including those who have been selected for the first year as well.

Nutrition Social Care Project for pregnant mothers and infants

The creation of a healthy people is one of our purposes. As one of its steps, a kilo of milk powder per month given to a mother for a period of one year from the moment of conception of the infant and from the date of birth is given to one family. Accordingly, the project is being implemented for each family for 6 years. Around 15,000 families will be selected for the first phase.

Drinking water project

This project is being implemented to help the people affected by drought. Accordingly, this project will provide relief to 5000 families by fixing 250 will tubes in areas where heavy droughts. Tube wells will be installed in the first stage for the districts of Hambantota, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Moneragala, Pothuvil and North East, which suffer most of the drought during the first phase.
